We are delighted to be appointing to a permanent post to provide specialist SLT input to the Head and Neck Cancer / ENT team and to The Upper and Mid Airway Dysfunction Service as part of the East of England Severe Asthma Service Hub.

We are looking for someone with the required combination of skills, experience, drive and enthusiasm to help support this well established and regionally renowned team and to be able to work across Head and Neck and the Upper and Mid Airway Dysfunction Service.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to work within our well-established, friendly and enthusiastic team based in a busy acute teaching hospital. It also offers a unique experience to develop skills across ENT as well as within The Severe Asthma Service.

Experience of on-going clinical service development, developing and delivering training and close MDT working is required. You will have a comprehensive background in Dysphagia management and skills in Head and Neck Cancer Care and Oncology as well as benign ENT would support the application.

To contribute to the provision of specialist Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) within the SLT ENT / Head and Neck Oncology service with some sessions designated to ENT and the Upper and Mid Airway Dysfunction Service.

To provide specialist input to a defined caseloadincluding patients with complex airway disorders,prioritising needs and managing workload independently.

To be proactive in developing specialist services offered to patients referred.

To contribute to the multidisciplinary management of patients, taking a holistic approach to care.

To cover for colleagues and line manager as required in service coordination and representation to relevant forums, e.g. Ward rounds, Clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings., As a Specialist Clinician, you would contribute to SLT service improvement initiatives and provide support and supervision to students. In all cases, training and development needs will be identified and a personal development plan agreed and supported.

Are you a highly motivated, skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist interested in joining SLT Services at Addenbrooke's Hospital in the vibrant city of Cambridge?, Some knowledge and interest in the assessment of the upper airway and treatment of these disorders would be helpful but is not essential.

Experience of tracheostomy management, Surgical Voice Restoration, AAC, VFS and FEES are desirable but not essential.

Speech and Language Therapy Services at Addenbrooke's are managed by a Professional Head of SLT and structured into four clinical areas, each led by a Senior Specialist SLT.

These are " Head and Neck / ENT", "Adult Acute", "Acute Paediatrics and Neonates" and "Stroke / Neuro / Trauma Rehab".

Due to new investment over the last year, we have been able to set up and establish SLT role within the Severe Asthma Service.

In addition, the service is proud to have been commissioned by NHS England to deliver specialised AAC services to the region - the Communication Aids Service East of England (CASEE).
