  • Are you passionate about coding and eager to kick-start your career in software development? Look no further! Baltic Apprenticeships are thrilled to be working with a Museum trust to provide them with their next aspiring Software apprentice.

    Established in 2002 the trust was formed to manage the museums and galleries within the city of York. Their mission is to work together with audiences and communities to inspire, share and care for cultural heritage.

    In this role, you'll work towards your Level 3 Software Developer qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

    A Typical Day in the Job:

    · Collaborate with product owners, project managers and subject matter experts to develop software solutions for online and on-gallery digital experiences.

    · Write clean, secure, and well-tested code following best practices and coding standards.

    · Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of software applications and digital platforms.

    · Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas for innovative digital experiences.

    · Support the implementation of user interface designs and ensure seamless user interactions.

    · Conduct testing and debugging of software to ensure functionality and performance meet project requirements.

    · Assist in the integration of third-party APIs and external systems into our digital products.

    · Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to contribute to the Trust's continuous improvement.

    · Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders, to deliver cohesive digital solutions.

    · Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance during project implementation and post-launch support phases.

    Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

  • Passion for Software Development

  • Basic knowledge of databases and SQL for data manipulation and storage

  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in a fast-paced and creative environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good awareness of the cultural and heritage sector.

  • Grade 6/C in Math's & 4/C in English GCSE, You must have the right to work in the UK, and valid residency status to apply for this apprenticeship.

    Starting salary of £22,070 per annum rising to £23,150 after 4 months of employment.
