Full Job Description

We are a Disability Confident Employer - committed to ensuring that our recruitment and selection process is inclusive and accessible.

Are you passionate about supporting care experienced children and young people and working with them and their networks to promote their positive outcomes?

We are looking for an experienced social worker to join the Children in Care Team in Eastleigh and Winchester. You will be passionate about providing quality services to children in care, and their families, carers, placement and networks, delivered within a strength-based approach model. You'll thrive in a position working with children to promote their wellbeing, relationships with their families and to achieve the best outcome possible for them.

You will look after a complex caseload of children who are care experienced, in this challenging but hugely rewarding role. Your expertise will span the range of statutory provisions, but particularly you would ideally have experience working with Children in Care and those where Care Proceedings have been initiated. You will work closely with these children and their families to undertake holistic social work assessments to identify risk and need; and work with multi-agency networks to develop and review plans that address and mitigate concerns in a timely manner.

You'll be comfortable engaging with a variety of stakeholders and be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.

You will be part of a stable, friendly team. You will be required to liaise with health and education professionals to develop support packages for children with complex needs. The ability to understand and navigate multi-agency systems and processes is essential.

Your practical skills as a Social Worker will be supported by a working knowledge of the legislation that governs work with Children, including the Children's Act 1989 as amended, the Children's Act 2002, the Care Act 2014 and the Children and Families Act 2014. A Social Work qualification is essential and prior experience of working with children with in care is desirable.

As a team we offer peer support, reflective supervision, mentoring opportunities and creativity in keeping in touch and supporting each other.

  • A 9 day working fortnight.

  • Annual leave starting from 25 days per annum and rising to 28 days based on experience and length of service.

  • A personal assistant, who will provide crucial back office support to free up your time to focus on professional practice.

  • A personal laptop, so you can work more effectively and flexibly.

  • 5 personal development days per annum.

  • Ample progression opportunities.

  • Flexible working options to fit around today's lifestyles.

  • In addition to working for one of the top performing children's social care authorities in the country, Hampshire is also one of the best places to live and work.
