Full Job Description

You'll have expert knowledge and skills as an experienced senior social worker that will make you best placed to assess and manage high levels of risk, and you'll be solution focused in your approach to put effective safety plans in place to safeguard children.

You'll supervise a small team of family support workers within our Family Support Service and oversee the out of hours support offered within Children's Social Care.

  • A Senior Social Worker to teenagers (12-18) who are considered edge of care under a Child In Need Plan.

  • Chair Child In Need, Professionals and Strategy Meetings as part of a multi-disciplinary team which will inform assessments and care plans for young people.

  • Work closely with colleagues to fulfil duty responsibilities as advised by the Team Manager.

  • As a Senior Practitioner you will offer support and supervision to colleagues within your service.

  • Contribute to raising and maintaining standards of professional social work within a social work team, develop areas of specialist practice, offer expert advice and supervision to less experienced staff.

  • Delegate on behalf of the Team Manager.

    A qualified Social Worker (holding a social work degree or equivalent) registered with Social Work England with at least 3 years post qualifying experience.

  • Ability to think outside the box, able to challenge others and make evidenced based decisions.

  • Enthusiastic and committed to building a culture based on excellence and collaboration.

  • Leadership and management skills to support others in developing.

  • Enjoys working with teenagers in a child first approach.

  • Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).

  • For this role you are required to have a full UK driving licence and provide evidence of your vehicle insurance with business cover and use of a vehicle. If you are successful, you will be required to supply evidence of your licence prior to starting the role.
