Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy as Site Operations Co-ordinator in the field of fusion energy. As a Site Operations Co-ordinator, you will be reporting to the Site Operations Manager. The role is predominately site-based at the UKAEA offices in West Burton North Nottinghamshire; however, travel to the UKAEA head office in Culham, Oxfordshire, will be required to attend meetings and training commitments. The role's main purpose is to deliver day-to-day support for all site activities and facilities management as part of the UKAEA's future development projects. Typical activities to be supported include environmental monitoring, geotechnical surveys, minor construction works and site improvement projects., Assist the Site Operations Manager in organising and overseeing site activities.
- Promote a strong Health and Safety culture; oversee contractor safety and compliance.
- Manage Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to ensure safe work practices.
- Oversee the Permit to Work process and manage site operations (SIMOPs).
- Conduct safety inductions and toolbox talks and maintain health and safety documentation.
- Monitor contractor progress to ensure schedule adherence and timely project completion.

Facilities Management:

- Collaborate with the UKAEA Business and Facilities Manager to ensure facilities support.
- Monitor performance against KPIs and SLAs.
- Utilise the CAFM system for defect and maintenance management.
- Ensure compliance with building and preventative maintenance requirements.
- Serve as the primary contact for FM services; perform minor facility maintenance as needed.

Collaboration and Communication:

- Liaise across departments and with external stakeholders to maintain site standards.
- Engage in community and business events to represent the organisation.
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for site visitors.

Building and Facilities Oversight:

- Support facility requirements, ensuring service compliance and upkeep.
- Conduct compliance checks, manage documentation, and oversee mechanical and electrical maintenance.
- Manage building security, vehicle maintenance, and daily facility inspections.

Leadership and Culture:

- Embody leadership qualities, promoting the organisation's values and culture.
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative workplace environment.
- Act as a cultural ambassador and lead with integrity and professionalism.
- Make decisions that reflect organisational goals and diverse perspectives.

Proven experience in co-ordinating/supervising day-to-day site operations.
- Trade or construction background.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of building compliance and maintenance management.
- SHEQ qualifications.
- Full, valid driving licence.
- Experience of supervising teams of 10 or more operatives.
- Microsoft Office: Proficient skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Desirable Requirements:

- Specific site safety qualification, e.g. CSCS card holder.
- Demonstrate BF&M competencies, L8, electrical equipment testing, asbestos awareness, fire safety.
- Plant and equipment competencies, powered access licence, prefabricated access equipment, construction plant competence scheme.
- IOSH or equivalent

The UK Government has established UK Industrial Fusion Solutions (UKIFS) Ltd., a subsidiary of UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), to lead the charge in delivering fusion energy through the design and delivery of the Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP) protype fusion plant. UKIFS is establishing itself, setting up the company, attracting talent, engaging with the industry, developing a supply chain, and planning and constructing of the STEP prototype.

Fusion energy, crucial for combating climate change and ensuring energy independence, is expected to be commercially viable by mid-century. The UK, led by UKIFS, aims for a prototype fusion plant, targeting first operations around 2040. UK Industrial Fusion Solutions Ltd. will lead the delivery, collaborating with industrial partners and building a fusion supply chain with an estimated global sector value of £7tn per year. UKIFS's pay arrangements and grading structure are currently under review as part of a transformation project and proposed multi-year pay deal.
