Full Job Description

As Site Manager you’ll assist in undertaking the day-to-day construction management of project works in terms of safety, quality, environment, engineering/ design compliance, commissioning, functionality and programme. Based at Swanley Delivery Unit, the role is aligned to the Sussex Route and sits within our Minor Works Southern Geotech & Drainage team.

This role will include shift work, nights and weekends as required.

About the role (External)

Key accountabilities will include:

· Assisting in the construction management and/ or supervision of project works.

· Following construction management processes and effectively implement them.

· Applying a consistent approach to assist construction management, implementation of processes and the management of contractors.

· Assisting in the liaison with the Maintainer when the project works will/ may affect Maintained Assets.

· Assisting in the evaluation of progress on site against the programme and agreed milestones. Use this information to provide accurate updates to the project team and agreed reporting lines.

· Undertake suitable inspections/ audits for the project works being managed in regard to safety, quality, environment, engineering/ design compliance, functionality and commissioning.

· Keeping suitable records for the project works being run and communicate information regarding construction management to the rest of the project team in a timely and effective manner.

· For the project works being monitored to identify issues on site that may result in cost variation and report them to the project team, providing assistance in the valuation of these variations if required.

· Identifying standard methodologies to the Construction Manager.

· A desire to learn and develop personal skills, knowledge, behaviours and values

· Understanding of the construction process

· Experience within the rail industry

· Awareness of the CDM Regulations and health & safety legislation, regulations and industry practices

· Effective communication skills

· Ability to operate effectively in the site environment

· Holds PTS and COSS

· Relevant experience for the specialist area of construction management being undertaken

· Demonstrable experience of the implementation of health, safety, environmental and quality management processes
