Full Job Description

This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in South Mimms, Hertfordshire. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. Due to the nature of the role this position requires working on site. The core hours include arriving no later than 9.00 a.m. and leaving no earlier than 3.30 p.m. Please discuss this with the recruiting manager before accepting an appointment., 1) Carry out daily planning and shipping of goods as part of a busy dynamic team. Picking and packing of consignments plus creating and managing the associated shipping paperwork including complex declarations and specialist documents. All work is carried out in accordance with ISO9001 quality management system and a high level of accuracy is required with attention to detail being paramount.

2) Communicate with internal and external scientific and operational contacts by email, telephone and face to face conversations. Communicate in a professional and clear manner to colleagues and customers. Confident and capable with receiving, understanding, and conveying complex information.

3) Proactively problem-solve to ensure shipments are delivered in timely and correct manner including perishable materials and high-value shipments. Track shipments and liaise with customers, couriers and contacts to resolve issues.

4) Daily manual picking of products and working in a -20°C walk-in freezer room. Packing, lifting, and carrying boxes of 25kg and handling of dry ice. Working while standing for up to 3 hours at a time. Requires physical fitness, energy and stamina.

5) Safe handling and processing of infectious materials and other Dangerous Goods. Ensure shipments are compliant with regulation. Maintain specialist knowledge and accreditations through attendance of training course and certificate exams.,

  • 2. Have strong customer-service experience, and the ability to liaise and work with diverse internal and external stakeholders across the globe in a clear and professional manner.

    3. Have knowledge of international shipping practices, documentation and terminology. Preexisting knowledge is desirable but not essential.

    4. Have IT literacy in MS Office applications and experience and confidence in learning and using new software systems.

    5. Be experienced and comfortable working in a physically active role requiring manual handling, lifting, spending time in cold environments, and standing for extended periods., Candidates will be subject to UK immigration requirements as well as Civil Service nationality rules.     The Logistics team carries out domestic and international shipping operations for the MHRA. This includes export of commercial orders and scientific samples, project related logistics, and imports of samples, goods, and equipment.     What's the role?

    The role will deliver the Agency's logistics requirements by working within our shipping team, planning and preparing the documentation and physical shipping of products to customers worldwide. This is an exciting multi-faceted role engaging with commercial and scientific partners across the globe and working as part of a dynamic and high performing team. The role combines both detailed clerical work and physical manual handling and picking products from walk in freezers.
