Full Job Description

The Sandbach terminal is a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation. It is the primary bulk inorganics chemical terminal for Brenntag UK comprising of caustic soda, hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, ferric chloride and poly-aluminium chloride. The terminal operates dilution facilities for caustic soda, hydrochloric acid and sulphuric acid.

This role encompasses all aspects of the site's function including:

  • Weighing in and out of vehicles, printing loading notes, assisting drivers to check and complete the correct paperwork, product sampling and testing.

  • To operate the plant following all site procedures effectively and safely without detriment to the environment in accordance with company policy and procedures.

  • To operate the bespoke computer loading/blending equipment, to load and offload bulk road tankers safely and in adherence to site instructions and policy.

  • To sample and test chemicals and complete certificates of product conformity.

  • Complete all system checks and plant logs as required.

  • Report any plant issues in a timely manner.

  • Prepare and isolate plant equipment for maintenance including completing and issuing a permit to work.

  • Undertake basic cleaning and maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and painting.

  • Weighing out loaded or empty tankers and completing legal paperwork ensuring there are no discrepancies prior to the vehicle leaving site.

  • Ensuring tankers presenting to load or discharge have the correct consignment number, the tanker is the correct type for the product to be loaded, and the driver completes the appropriate paperwork prior to proceeding to load or discharge

    GCSE or equivalent in English, Maths or Science and City & Guilds in Process Operating.

  • Any formal electrical and or mechanical training would be an advantage.

  • Experience in the chemical industry or any other relevant industry would be advantageous.

  • Very organised with a structured approach.

  • Able to effectively use systems and understand process requirements.
