Shift Lead - Hinkley Logistics Hub

There is an exciting opportunity for a First line manager to join our recently established Wincanton operation in Bridgwater, TA6 6TS, Hinkley Logistics Hub, supporting the construction of Hinkley Point C (HPC). This is a key role that will be central to the successful delivery of a contract where Wincanton provide warehousing and transport services for goods being delivered in to HPC.

Shifts will primarily be between Monday to Friday on shift patterns within the operating hours of 06:00-22:00, hours may vary to support the needs of the contract.

The role reports into the Shift Manager,

• Play a leading role the Zero Harm agenda with colleagues on site


• Step up to lead the operation in the absence of the Shift Manager


• Ensure a clear operational plan is communicated so that all employees are clear about their expected targets


• Manage site visitors and relevant permits


• Identify and escalate any Site maintenance concerns and carry out regular site inspections.


• Establish priorities and communicate them effectively


• Identify, evaluate, address and communicate any potential problems and risks to colleagues


• Liaise with customer, colleagues and other third parties to exceed customer expectations


• Be visible, lead by example and promote the site standards
  
  Experience of working within a secure operating environment


• Excellent communication skills combined with logical problem-solving skills


• Understanding of Quality Management and of what good looks like would be a distinct advantage


• Ability to analyse data and make recommendations


• FLT and Reach Truck license advantageous - training will be provided


• Customer focused and able to build effective relationships with team, client and other third parties


• Enthusiastic, committed and able to respond positively to changing demands


• Career progression training will be given for the right candidate


• Line management experience desirable
