Full Job Description

  • Allocation of the briefing of shift personnel

  • Site: -
    Ensuring all site policies are maintained Site security is always maintained in accordance with GW-UK SQE 031 Visitors are verified, signed in and briefed Contractors are verified, signed in, briefed and controlled Ensuring vehicle and pedestrian access to site is always controlled Rail access to site is always controlled Stock checks are carried out, as and when required Safety inspections of the following are completed: spillage kits, first aid stations, fire checks, reach stackers wheel nuts, radios are completed and recorded weekly Site inspection is completed and recorded on a monthly basis Tank bund inspection on a 6-monthly basis
    Personnel: -
    All operators are reviewed as fit/unfit for duty before commencing their shift. RG-GEN/023 procedure is followed for any operative that is suspected of being unfit for duty. All licenses required such as i.e. reach stackers, PTS, CW and the Freightliner identity cards are reviewed to ensure they are in date and valid for the task. Operatives are suitably attired in Freightliner issue for the task they are to perform Briefing of all operatives on task allocation and any operational, safety or general issues
    Mobile Heavy lifting equipment, Plant and Ancillary Equipment: -
    Mobile heavy lifting equipment, plant and ancillary equipment is allocated to specific drivers Equipment keys are signed in and out by the operatives Pre-operational safety examinations are carried out and logged by the operative A defect sheet is completed and filed in the defect folder for all defects noted Ensuring the equipment is always operated and driven in a safe manner as per training Equipment lifting volumes are recorded on FRL00001 by the Operative That the refuelling is carried out as per the MOW and form FRL00001 is completed by the operative Mobile heavy lifting equipment, plant and ancillary equipment are always parked in the designated area
    Rail Operations: -
    Rail services are examined as per MIE/0727 Rail services are off loaded re-loaded in a safe and efficient manner as laid down in Freightliner Group standards and Local Working Instructions Pre-departure examination are carried out and recorded as per OPS-IM008 Liaise with the relevant rail operator on loading requirements
    Booking Office: -
    Containers have the correct documentation of notification All tanks and bulk containers are examined, and inspection sheets completed Assist in the training of new starters Preparation of train consists SB Client (Container Management System) & Spinnaker data input All documentation is filed appropriately To oversee general booking office duties in conjunction with Freightliner IT systems To participate in the general working of the site, with the aim of providing service excellence4 to our customers.
    Other Activities
    When directed by management completes the following activities in a timely and efficient manner:
    Operate gantry cranes, mobile heavy lifting equipment, plant and ancillary equipment as authorised to do so, giving flexibility as and when required. Prepare trains for departure strictly in accordance with the provisions of Personnel and Safety Directive OPS-IM008," Train Pre-Departure Preparation Safety Check" under the direction of a supervisor. Carry out C&W exams on trains in accordance with the Company group standards Carry out wagon/container number checks, prepare trains for discharge and retrieving documents Ensure that any defects are reported immediately to management and the relevant forms are completed Control vehicle movements within the crane area or lifter areas as and when required Fully utilise available Freightliner IT systems relevant to the scope of your work Undertake regular written physical checks of laden and empty storage areas Undertake non-technical examinations of empty containers and record details of the check Undertake general housekeeping
    duties within the site Undertake train-shunting duties as directed (if applicable) Ensure prompt reporting and investigation of any mishap, near miss lifted wagons or any other problem, completing all relevant supporting documentation. Attend safety briefings and adhere to instructions contained therein. Attend any training course to improve competence, including courses away from home location. Management would reasonably expect staff to remain on duty during peak handling periods or where late running trains could potentially impact on the site's ability to maintain a quality service for the Company's customers, provided that any additional hours of duty are properly authorised. Undertake physical seal checks on arriving containers. Undertake non-traditional Freightliner work following training to enhance the revenue performance of the Terminal, e.g. car unloading, parking et. Participate in the training of the new staff in all aspects of terminal operations under the
    direction of the Freightliner national Training Manager Management would reasonably expect staff to assist in the general running and upkeep of the site within their skill base and capabilities. Ensure that the machine is fuelled up at the end of each shift and that the relevant records are maintained. Any other duties commensurat
