Full Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional individual to fill the dual role of Senior Winemaking Consultant and Head of Research & Development. You may be based within the UK or Internationally. As a key member of our small team, you will lead our research efforts and drive innovation in all aspects of wine production, from vine to glass. Your responsibilities will encompass oenological laboratory work, research and development, technical report writing, scientific publication, intellectual property management, and direct interaction with winemakers. You will play a crucial role in developing and validating our technology while educating winemakers on its implementation and use within their wineries.,

  • Conduct oenological laboratory work using industry-standard equipment and tests.

  • Lead research and development initiatives to enhance wine production processes and quality.

  • Write technical reports and publish scientific articles in reputable journals.

  • Manage intellectual property development and contribute to technology advancement.

  • Develop empirical evidence for our technology platform and contribute to its evolution.

  • Demonstrate expertise in standard industry test methods, viticulture to a Ph.D. level, and wine ageing techniques.

  • Work directly with winemakers to educate them on our technology, its implementation, and use within their wineries.

  • Communicate effectively with both novice and expert winemakers, adapting your communication style as needed.

  • Utilize your experience in managing wineries to provide valuable insights and guidance.

    Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Viticulture, Oenology, or related field.

  • Degree in Chemistry.

  • Significant experience in wine ageing and the use of MOX both in theory and in practice.

  • Proven track record of working with some of the world's top wine producers from around the world.

  • Demonstrably strong background in rootstock, wine chemistry, and wine ageing techniques.

  • Extensive knowledge of standard industry test methods and winemaking techniques.

  • Experience in managing wineries and leading research and development projects.

  • Strong understanding of intellectual property management and technology development.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

  • Fluency in English, and ideally French, and Italian languages. English a must.
