Senior Sister / Charge Nurse

The Senior Sister / Charge Nurse has 24 hour accountability, including line managing, for their ward / department. They must deliver quality nursing care by ensuring appropriate systems and processes are in place to ensure the continuity of safe and effective care at all times. Deputises for Matron / Deputy Matron as required / appropriate. The Freeman Hospital in Newcastle is the centre for childrens cardiac services. We host National supra specialist programmes of care and are only one of two centres in the country undertaking Cardio- pulmonary transplantation and bridge to transplant services for children and young people through Ventricular Assist Device technologies.
