"Are you experienced in the definition and delivery of complex programmes and projects, and interested in gaining a wider perspective of the work we are doing in radioactive waste management and decommissioning? If so, consider our Senior Project Delivery Advisor role - the purpose of which is to provide a focal point for governance support and expert assurance to provide confidence to senior stakeholders that programmes, projects and procurements are set-up to succeed.

The role requires the application of knowledge and experience across all aspects of project management.

Good governance and independent assurance is fundamental to the planning and delivery of projects and programmes. In this role, you will ensure that our high standards are being achieved and provide challenge without judgement. You will also help to guide, enable, coach and mentor project management teams to learn and grow.

Working in our Programme Management Office, the successful candidate will be part of a small, highly experienced team and required to:

  • Support the design and delivery of programmes and projects through the provision of timely, consistent, evidence-based and compelling advice throughout their lifecycle

  • Plan, lead, facilitate and undertake project assurance to give confidence to stakeholders that projects, programmes and portfolios will achieve their scope, time, cost, quality objectives, and realise their benefits

  • Support projects in distress by assisting the development and implementation of recovery plans

  • Build and manage effective relationships with stakeholders, establishing and maintaining effective interfaces between functions and programmes and sites as needed.

  • Cultivate strong, trusted relationships with the project management community, supporting the development of project management capability through knowledge sharing, coaching and mentoring within the wider project community

  • Be an advocate for project governance, assurance and project management good practice aiming to ensure that it remains central to the culture of the organisation, Working in a hybrid arrangement, this role can be based at any of our sites and will require flexibility to travel to our other sites on a regular basis. It is expected that you will work on a NRS Site at least two days per week.

  • The equivalent of 25 days (185 hours per year) annual leave plus Public Holidays (59.2 hours per year). This increases by 2 days (14.8 hours per year) annual leave after two full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year) , and an additional 3 days (22.2 hours per year) annual leave after five full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year). You also have the option to buy or sell the equivalent of 5 days (37 hours) annual leave each year (available in specific windows for the following holiday year). For the purpose of assessing an employee's annual leave entitlement, a day means seven and two fifths (7.4) hours. A pro rata entitlement will apply for part time workers.

    Educated to degree level with a professional qualification in a relevant discipline (Essential)

  • APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ), or equivalent (Essential)

  • Chartered Project Professional or on track to achieve Chartered Project Professional status within one year

  • At least five years of programme and project delivery experience (engineering, procurement, construction) of significant value and complexity in a highly regulated industry or industries

  • Demonstrable experience in the provision of project assurance, reviews, and governance

  • Strong communicator, able to operate at all levels in the project community

    Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.
