Full Job Description

Working in either the Deal or Folkestone area, you'll be an independent Practitioner examining, diagnosing and treating patients with minor injuries and illness' from age 1 up.

You will see patients for X ray, suture and deal with all wounds

The department can be busy and diverse in an ever-changing environment and we are looking for highly motivated members, to join our team, who are adaptable to clinical change on a shift basis.

The post has been developed to cover shift patterns at the newly developed Folkestone and Deal Urgent Treatment Centres however sometimes internal rotation across the service as required.

You should have the ability to work autonomously, ''think on your feet'' and take responsibility for the unit, being willing to develop and expand your clinical practice within the service guidelines.

The service opening times in the Minor Injuries is 8am to 8pm seven days a week.

Educational & Qualification,

  • First Level Registered Nurse / Registered Paramedic HPC

  • Degree or relevant experience.

  • ENB 998 / Preparation for mentors

  • A&E radiology, Imaging Regulation and Initial Imaging (red dot course)

  • Evidence of relevant specialist courses and continuing professional development (minor illness / minor injury at degree level


  • Desirable
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber

  • Leadership or similar management

  • Evidence of autonomous practice

  • Masters Degree

    Essential
  • Experience working in an Urgent Treatment Centre

  • Shift Co-ordinator

  • Professional knowledge and competence in the autonomous management of undifferentiated patients, recognising limitations of the role and personal accountability.

  • Organisational responsibilities

  • Complaints handling and investigation Experience of audit

  • Experience of dealing with difficult complex and sensitive situations

  • Currently working at Senior band 6 or 7 level, Working within an MIU, WIC, UCC or A&E department

  • Administration of medications within Patient Group Directions (PGD's)

  • Personal achievement at work

  • Management of patients with minor injuries and minor illnesses

  • Highly developed advanced physical skills in hand eye co-ordination when dexterity and degree of speed and precision is required suturing and application of plaster of paris

  • Computer literacy

  • Able to present information logically and concisely both written and verbally

  • Excellent interpersonal skills - able to communicate with staff at all levels and disciplines as well as patients, relatives, carers and the multidisciplinary team

  • Able to communicate complex and sensitive issues including barriers to understanding requiring empathy and negotiation skills
