Full Job Description

A unique opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and reliable Senior Mental Health Practitioner (SMHP) to join the Buckinghamshire CAMHS ACE (Adopted and Care Experienced) Team. We require a clinician from any of the following backgrounds:

  • Social Work

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Mental Health Nursing

  • Main duties of the job

You will provide an experienced and senior level of expertise to children, young people and their carers referred to the Adopted & Care Experienced Service within Buckinghamshire CAMHS.

You will carry out assessments of children, young people and their carers referred to the service as part of our multidisciplinary team. This will include risk assessments, assessments of the child's emotional well-being and general functioning, mental health assessments, and assessments of the quality of the child's relationship with their carer.

In this exciting role you will provide a range of interventions and evidence-based treatments to our clients and their carers. This will include co-facilitating a carers group for foster-carers and adoptive parents. The post entails taking Care Co-ordinator responsibility for an agreed case load of patients and there is a balanced and varied workload.

You will offer advice and consultation on clients' care to professionals including social workers and CAMHS clinicians, and to other, non-professional carers to include foster-carers and adoptive parents.

The successful applicant will work within a Specialist team to identify and address the mental health needs of Looked after children and young people.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we are currently reviewing how we deliver the service, and you will have the opportunity to help us shape the service going forwards.

Benefits of working for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust include:
  • Excellent opportunities for career progression

  • 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, with an increase to 33 days with continuous service

  • NHS Discount across a wide range of shops, restaurants and retailers

  • Staff accommodation

  • Competitive pension scheme

  • Lease car scheme

  • Cycle to work scheme
