Full Job Description

  • Lead the development of solutions to technical issues as a member of an integrated project team, reporting to Technical Leads and directly to the customer


  • Developing design solutions based on customer requirements, validating, and verifying through the design process


  • Review and check design work and technical reports, providing help and direction to less experienced engineers


  • Carrying out technical analysis and investigations, and preparing reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability


  • Planning, delivering, and monitoring assigned projects or work packages, ensuring that requirements are delivered to plan

    Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or a high level of experience within an engineering environment, whilst having experience writing and reviewing technical reports and specifications


  • Design experience in a production and/or prototyping environment, finite element analysis (FEA) software to perform structural/stress analysis, and product data management (PDM) tools to configuration manage data


  • Working knowledge of technical office processes, standards, and standard instructions (i.e., Business Management System (BMS) and Life Cycle Model (LCM)). Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing


  • Working experience using CAD software (CREO Parametrics or similar) and PLM software (Teamcenter or similar)

    As part of the Weapon Systems UK Mechanical Engineering team, you will be involved in supporting technical changes to our existing product portfolio (i.e., M777 towed howitzer, 4.5" MK.8 MOD 1 Naval Gun, AS90 Self Propelled Howitzer & 105 Light Gun) through analysis, concept design and tests and trials. This role also allows you to put forward your innovative ideas and solutions to the next generation of weapon platforms for the future battle space.

    Salary: £50817 - £56000 (depending on skills and experience), You'll receive benefits including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan.
