Full Job Description

We are recruiting for a Senior Manager Model Management in our Credit Analytics team. If you enjoy adding value to customers by solving problems with your knowledge of financial products and skills in mathematics and technology, then this may be the job for you!

Not just another building society. Not just another job.

We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation. We don't have shareholders; we're owned by our members.

Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.

Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with knowledge of financial models related to mortgages to join our Credit Analytics Team which consists of 30 individuals. The team develops predictive models, analytical solutions and associated reporting to support key decisions across the Society related to the provision of credit. The team works closely with Finance, Homes Business and Technology teams.

You will be involved in oversight of the model development and maintenance of the models owned by the Credit Analytics team. Information is documented and explained to a range of audiences, so the ability to describe complex information in a non-technical manner is key.

Skipton values work/life balance and we are proud to support hybrid and flexible working, where possible. We have a newly refurbished head office which offers a vibrant and collaborative working space.

The role of Senior Manager Model Management is a full time, permanent position based on 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. However, this role can offer flexible working for the right candidate including compressed/reduced hours.

Our hybrid working policy means the ability to work remotely with the expectation that you would work from our Head Office in Skipton 2 days per month as a minimum.

We have a range of other benefits available to you including;

  • Annual discretionary bonus scheme.

  • 25 days standard annual leave + bank holidays + rising 1 day per year of service to a maximum of 30 days.

  • Holiday trading scheme allowing the ability to buy and sell additional annual leave days.

  • Matching employer pension contribution (up to 10% per annum).

  • A commitment to training and development.

  • Private medical insurance for all our colleagues.

  • Salary Sacrifice Scheme for Hybrid/Electric Car.

  • Colleague Mortgage (conditions apply).

  • 3 paid volunteering days per annum.

  • Diverse and inclusive colleague networks available for you to join including our Carers and Pride Alliance groups.

  • We care about your health and wellbeing - we provide a range of benefits that support this including cycle to work initiative and discounted gym membership.

  • The team uses Agile delivery methods to work together to deliver value. The Model Development Senior Lead role provides leadership across Model Development related activity. The role includes:
  • Ensure the Credit Analytics models remain with model risk appetite.

  • Overseeing the production of regular model monitoring.

  • Approve the outputs from the regular processing of Credit Analytics models.

  • Contribute to the Credit Analytics training and development framework.

  • Undertake the required people leadership duties as per the performance management framework.

  • Act as the Product Owner for Credit Analytics initiatives.

  • Developing a team of technical experts who will work across Credit Analytics initiatives.

  • Support the development and delivery of the Credit Analytics roadmap.

  • We would welcome anyone with experience leading a team of individuals that use data, mathematics, or technology to solve problems having developed predictive models with a high level of scrutiny. We are looking for individuals that have product focused leadership experience that are able to understand business priorities to ensure the correct activities are created and resources applied.
