Full Job Description

  • Liaise with Integrated Product Team (IPT) to fully understand the Request For Quotation (RFQ)

  • Understand the manufacturing processes to be utilised in the bid

  • Review and process supplier quotations to ensure they are compliant and will pass scrutiny under customer fact find or audit

  • Review recorded labour actuals to develop supportable manufacturing and support labour estimates

  • Generate learner calculations for manufacturing labour estimates

  • Generate 'Bottom Up' Prime Hardware Estimates to support bid activities at all stages of the product lifecycle, includes material, assembly and test elements.

  • Incorporate functional phased labour estimates for support activities against an appropriate Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

  • Develop Prime Hardware Estimates into Works Cost Estimates (WCEs)

  • Convert Works Cost Estimates into Selling Prices

  • Incorporate risk provisions from a risk register

  • Ensure compliance to CEPA guidelines and processes at all times during bid/proposal preparation

  • Ensure compliance to financial instructions when generating WCEs or selling prices

  • Ensure bid conforms to MoD/DoD practices/regulations

  • Support the bid team in generating Audit/Basis of Estimate packs to support proposals

  • Support the bid team during customer fact finds/negotiations without supervision

  • Present pertinent data to line manager or IPT

  • Analyse supplier CPD packs and support Procurement in generation of supplier Cost Analysis Reports

  • Support Procurement during supplier price negotiations without supervision

  • Identify potential areas for cost reduction to enhance business winning opportunities and feed back to the IPT

  • Provide assistance to the wider CEPA UK team when required

  • Provide cover for line manager

  • Coach and mentor team members within the function to assist with their development

  • Support apprentices/graduates on rotational placements in the function

  • Liaise with other functions to ensure accuracy of estimates and maintain process efficiency

  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with cross functional colleagues, suppliers and customers

  • Promote a culture of best practice and knowledge sharing within the function

  • This is a flexible role requiring the Senior Cost Estimator & Price Analyst to work as part of a team while taking responsibility for key elements of the bid process.

    Qualification at HNC level or equivalent, considerable experience as a Cost Estimator or in a similar role and possess the following:

  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work in teams and independently

  • Ability to prioritise, time manage and meet deadlines

  • Flexible approach, A blended role mixing on-site working and Working From Home

  • Working to tight deadlines on a regular basis

  • Occasional UK travel with overnight stays may be required
