Full Job Description

An exciting rare opportunity has become available to join our Clinical Coding Team. As a Senior Clinical Coder, you will be working alongside our Clinical Coding Management Team. Clinical Coding is fundamental for the Trust as through accurate data creation the Trust is able to be reimbursed for the treatment it offers its patients. As a Senior Clinical Coder your expertise will be used to ensure the data is created accurately thus ensuring the Trust is reimbursed appropriately.

As a Senior Clinical Coder, you will be recognised for your expert knowledge in the coding of various clinical specialties. You will be tasked with managing the different processes of Clinical Coding such as auditing, validation, and mentoring (Trainee) Clinical Coding Analysts.

Applicants will generally have a high level of IT literacy and skills. Take responsibility for the content and design of the internal Coding knowledge base, participating in and leading monthly review meetings.
Transfer entries by annotating the encoder software and set up local index entries. Be expert in the use of excel and similar applications to manage and analyse complex data. Build knowledge and further the application of automated and augmented coding, including artificial intelligence, working with internal colleagues and commercial partners.

The post holder will be an experienced Accredited Clinical Coder.

The post holder will participate in the completion of the coding process, specialist workshops and mandatory training courses to ensure their own skills and knowledge are maintained to high level.

The post holder will be required to attend specialist clinical coding meetings and seminars to maintain and continuously develop complex clinical coding knowledge and skills and to be aware of planned developments associated with the clinical coding function.

Within the Senior Clinical Coding Team, as well as contributing a significant amount of 'first pass' coding to the Department, the post holder will be required to use their general Clinical Coding experience and knowledge with a particular focus on certain areas.
