Full Job Description

To work as a specialist Child Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in the Early Attachment Service providing community based therapeutic support to parents, infants and their families.

To hold a small clinical caseload providing assessment and therapy to support parent infant/young child relationships.

- to work closely with professional colleagues across the borough providing supervision, reflective practice groups and consultation to colleagues both within the team and to partner agencies eg Children's social care, Midwifery, Health Visiting, Early Years, Perinatal and Adult Mental Health colleagues, NICU and Pediatrics.

- To contribute to the development and delivery of the service's multi-agency training offer.

About us

Oldham Early Attachment Service is commissioned to support the mental health and emotional wellbeing of all infants and young children, up to 2 years of age. We have close links with Health Visiting, Family Nurse Partnership, Maternity, Neonatal service, Adult mental health, Perinatal mental health, Social care and the voluntary sector. Our friendly and innovative team offers high-quality therapeutic support, assessment and treatment for families experiencing moderate to severe, complex and/ or enduring difficulties in their early relationships. We use our expertise to help the local workforce to understand and support parent-infant relationships. This may be offered through training, consultation and/or supervision to other professionals to enable a shared understanding and language. Using the THRIVE model we have led the borough in developing integrated perinatal and parent-infant mental health services for parents and children under two. The team consists of Specialist Health
Visitors, Clinical Psychologists, Therapeutic Social Workers, Child Psychotherapists and a Speech and Language Therapist. We are committed to supporting our staff in their development with access to CPD opportunities and robust clinical and management supervision structures.

Are you an experienced Child Psychotherapist who is looking to develop and consolidate your clinical/therapeutic skills within the field of Parent-Infant Mental Health?

We are also able to offer this as a Band 7 Preceptorship opportunity to those who are due to complete their Doctorate.

A unique opportunity has arisen to work within Oldham Early Attachment Service, one of the ten specialist Parent-Infant Mental Health (PIMH) services that sit within Greater Manchester's Perinatal and Parent Infant Service's Model.

We are looking for a highly skilled clinician who is passionate about working to support parents and infants to develop good quality relationships right from the start. We are a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team who appreciate psychoanalytic thinking and infant observation skills.
