Full Job Description

We are now looking for a Senior Assistant Buyer to come and join our Buying team, supporting the buyer in sourcing and developing our collection of small goods (travel, purses, cardholders, belts, umbrellas, lifestyle - phone bags, bag straps, jewellery boxes) and leather bags product ranges. This will be a busy and varied role, as an established Assistant Buyer you will work in support of your Buyer in sourcing, constructing and analysing ranges in order to maximise sales and gross profit. You'll attend supplier meetings with the buyer and will play an integral part in building and maintaining strong and effective supplier relationships. You will play a part in coaching our buyer administrators and share your skills and experience to help build our future talent.,

  • Supports the team with the review of last season's performance and lessons learnt

  • Keeps up to date on trends through comparative shopping and research

  • Supports the development of balanced and commercial product ranges that reflect the brand

  • Contributing to range building activities and support the Buyer by attending supplier meetings with the Buyer and approving samples

  • Ensuring range building and range sign off activity adheres to the critical path by dealing with any ad-hoc requests/queries from internal/external parties

  • Ensure all POs contain the right information and are raised in line with critical path dates

  • Support the Buyer with red seal pre-shipment process and the management of critical path, fit sessions and put forward solutions

  • Support the launch and in season trading of the ranges by reviewing sales data and offering commercially viable suggestions to the Buyer

  • Negotiating prices with suppliers and ensuring orders are raised in a timely manner to meet critical path deadlines.

  • Check BMI reports daily and correcting any systems discrepancies

  • Approve samples, lab dips and bulk materials (where relevant) and oversee that these are received within the critical path deadlines.

  • Support the management of Buyers Administration Assistant by providing advice, guidance and mentoring.

  • Support the brand marketing team and web team by assisting with activities such as sample management processes with the creative teams and ensuring they have any information required to support their work.

    Previous experience in Buying, either in an Assistant Buyer or Buying Assistant role.

  • Good commercial eye, with an understanding of trends and a keen interest in fashion.

  • Good understanding of the financial impact of Buying and experience in supporting a Buying team deliver commercial results.

  • Excellent PC skills (Microsoft Word & Excel) with an emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy

  • Experience in managing or mentoring junior members of the team with the ability to coach/develop others

  • Strong communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels

  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and work at pace

  • Active team player who constantly contributes and supports other members

  • Flexibility and ability to work at pace, in a fast-moving environment
