The purpose of a Senior Applications Support Engineer is multifaceted and crucial for maintaining efficient software operations. Senior engineers specialize in handling complex technical issues, act as subject matter experts, perform root cause analysis, communicate effectively with clients, and drive continuous improvement. Their expertise ensures reliable services and client satisfaction within an organization.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and assistance to end users of software applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with software applications, using advanced debugging techniques and tools.
- Design and develop the software system architecture and infrastructure, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.
- Lead and manage the code migration process across environments, ensuring continued and synchronized functionality.
- Supervise and coordinate the application support team, assigning tasks, setting deadlines, and monitoring progress.
- Support a team of software engineers in the development of software products and solutions, providing guidance, code reviews, and technical support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, ensuring the successful delivery of software projects.
- Assist in the professional growth and mentorship of team members through regular feedback, coaching, and career development planning.
- Contribute to the execution of the software engineering strategy, participating in strategic discussions and technology assessments.
- Manage project tasks and assignments, helping to prioritize and plan work to meet project goals.
- Monitor project timelines, resource allocation, and budgets to ensure efficient project execution.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, working to resolve issues as they arise.
- Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
- Typically, 6+ years of relevant work experience in industry, with a minimum of 2+ years in a similar role year of experience in software engineering.
- Proficiency in 1 or more software languages and development methodologies.
- Some prior experience in a leadership or mentoring capacity.
- Familiarity with software development methodologies and best practices.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn and grow in a leadership role.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Relevant certifications or training a plus
- Work with AMS leadership to ensure Service Line goals and objectives are reached.
- Work with Technical Leadership to ensure technical processes are followed.
- Work with Service Management Capability to ensure SLAs are achieved, and ITIL processes are followed.
- Work with other service lines (ITO, Networks, Citrix) to ensure issues are resolved and changes implemented on time.
- Work with other vendors and suppliers where applicable to ensure ecosystem engagement and escalation processes are followed.
- Work with our customer to ensure their expectations of service are achieved.
