Full Job Description

Hampton Court House is an award-winning independent co-educational day school for ages 2 - 18, educating children in Pre-Nursery to students in Year 13. The majority of our 300+ pupils elect to stay on to complete their full education with us, enjoying great success in their GCSEs and A Levels. Hampton Court House was in 2022 ranked in the top 50 independent schools nationwide (The Telegraph) and was shortlisted for the TES Independent School Awards 2020 'senior school of the year'.

We strive to lay the foundations of a lifelong love of learning, and it is important to us that children enjoy being here and look forward to coming to school. In keeping with our ethos, we believe that children need some guided freedom in order to develop their independence and confidence to use their voice. Our non-uniform parkland campus environment, in which staff and pupils alike are addressed on a first-name basis, cultivates an energy where our pupils can explore their individuality and style with taste and discretion.

We seek an outstanding science technician to support teachers in delivering high quality practical work, inspiring students and enabling them to develop a deeper understanding of science.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A passion for educating, inspiring and understanding children and teenagers

  • A love of learning and a commitment to continued professional development

  • A fascination with the many varied and different methods of challenging and inspiring children and teenagers both inside the classroom and outside

  • A desire to participate actively in the life of a busy and ambitious school

  • A belief that every pupil can succeed beyond their expectations

  • A sense of adventure as well as a sense of humour

  • An interest in the peoples, cultures and languages of the world

  • The role will report to the Head of Science.

There may be opportunities to become more involved in the running of extra-curricular clubs for students either related to STEM or to any other areas of interest.

The successful candidate must show interest across the science curriculum; as we are a small school, the role will involve all of the sciences, and a keenness to develop our unique campus site to provide an engaging and enriched science experience for learners aged 2 to 18+ in essential.

The person will also maintain excellent standards of Health and Safety in all areas of the department.

Please note that we are unable to accept applications unless they are made on our own application form.

Due to the large number of applications the School receives, please be aware that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted to be invited for an interview. We have the right to end the job advert before the deadline if a suitable candidate has been found.

Hampton Court House is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children. The School is registered with the DBS and successful applicants will be required to successfully complete the Disclosure procedure at the Enhanced level. Hampton Court House will carry out online checks of candidates of information available in the public domain as part of the recruitment process. It is an offence for a person barred from working with children to apply for this post. Hampton Court House is committed to Equal Opportunities and strives to achieve inclusivity and diversity within our community. Therefore, we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
