Full Job Description

Our vision is that every child and young person in the country has a safe and happy childhood. To help us achieve this, the role will:

Working with local managers to provide technical and installation support, also providing a conduit between the services and the central IT department. Through this role to provide basic training to enable IS services to be fully accessed and utilized to the agreed service level targets, in a way, that promotes the department and work ethos that the IT Department espouses

Action for Children protects and supports children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support, ensuring their voices are heard, and campaigning to bring lasting improvements to their lives. To help us achieve this, the role will:

1. Represent a professional front facing service to Action for Children staff across all geographies and levels and in so doing, to promote the values of the brand.

2. Locally commission and de-commission centrally controlled IT equipment.

3. Provide basic user training / familiarisation as required.

4. Maintain professional development through research of recent and relevant developments in IT, and apply this knowledge to contribute to the continuous improvement of the IT department and the technology it supports

5. Apply continuous improvements to service and processes, referring and discussing proposals with management prior to change.

6. Develop and apply technical knowledge of Microsoft based infrastructure, and by being familiar with Action for Children's technical infrastructure and desktop environment.

7. Provide direction and guidance to less experienced IT staff.

8. Develop strong relationships with remote service users and being the Ambassador for the Action for Children IT department and contributing to continuous-improvement programs for the department in partnership with other staff

9. Develop strong relationships with internal IT teams to ensure information flows both ways and working collaboratively with stakeholders to provide the efficient, effective and innovative use of IT within their functions, to improve the outcomes for children and young people and increase income generation.

10. Deal with ad hoc IT calls from Staff

11. Domain management, monitoring disk space removing redundant user accounts and maintaining disk space

12. PC, laptop and printer maintenance including hardware repair

13. Use of Meraki, to maintain Access Points around the campus.

14. Network maintenance (ie: switches, cabling, monitoring connections between buildings and troubleshooting problems)

15. Monitoring telephony on campus, moving extensions when required.

16. Keeping an up to date asset register of IT equipment

17. Purchasing equipment from approved suppliers to suit IT needs.

18. Administrator for SIMS database.

19. Be main contact for school website, making changes and keeping up to date.

Please note this a term time position, 39 weeks a years. The pro rata pay for this position is £30,283 this is inclusive of an on call allowance.
