Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Band 5 School Nurse to join our expanding School Health Plus Service. The School Health Plus service is directly aligned to the goals and aspirations of the school or academy. The School Health Plus nurse can work with the school or academy to target both individual and specific underlying community issues that may be creating barriers to success.

The post holder will work closely with and in school to meet the health needs of the school community. The post holder will be expected to manage a workload of children under the supervision of the Band 6 SCPHN within various schools and develop relationships with the school family and partner agencies to improve health outcomes for children, young people and families.

The post holder will develop links with the wider public health nursing team to ensure continuity of care and to safeguard the children. The school nurse will provide clinical expertise to the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams and act as a source of advice to parents/carers, children, young people and other health care professionals. The post holder will contribute to public health initiatives and activity in the school and health promotion activities which support the school population, as well as the school community.

Please note this post is for a full time all year contract (and not annualised/term-time hours). This will allow the post holder to work during some school breaks alongside other staff in supporting children and their families during these times
