Full Job Description

RIG is on the hunt for a driven sales manager to proactively target the Plymouth market with our range of recycled aggregates, produced from our state-of-the-art wash plant. The sales manager will be responsible for both inbound waste to feed the wash plant along with its produced materials which can be supplied into several sectors but predominantly the construction industry. The role will report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer.

The role will require the sales manager to engage with a wide variety of potential customers including but not limited to, Devon council, main contractors (including tier 1's), haulage/muck away specialists, groundworkers, building merchants, utility specialists and general builders to name just a few.

The ideal candidate will come from a sales/commercial background within the construction industry with a preference for an individual with experience in aggregates and contractors. They should be a self-starter and understand the importance of a robust pipeline and how this impacts the P&L as the individual will be responsible for the commercial success of RIG Plymouth. Since there are a lot of moving parts, you must have great organisational and prioritisation skills, as well as the ability to multitask. The successful applicant will be adept at collaborating with different teams within the company. Key Areas of Responsibility:

· Own the Forecast/pipeline for RIG Plymouth for both inbound and outbound materials.

· Input into the P&L for RIG Plymouth collaborating with the operations team to identify best value creation.

· Achieve sales targets in line with business models as set by the senior leadership team.

· Prepare weekly/monthly reports on performance.

· Establish, build and optimise positive and progressive relationships with potential and current customers and regulatory bodies, understanding buying patterns and signals.

· Develop individual customer CRM plans to address their challenges and to build network. Aim is for RIG to be the preferred solution for their waste and aggregate demand.

· Maintain and develop the CRM for RIG Plymouth, keeping all customer meeting info up to date.

· Look for solutions to our customers challenges, even if not directly within our sphere of influence.

· Provide market insights/updates to the team so that we can address when required.

· Grow and track market share including industry analysis addressing segmentation of the relevant customer groups.

· Carry out presentations when required so that the RIG message and benefit is understood.

· Closely monitor the balance between Account management (fixed outlet) and project focus delivery (direct contracts).

· To use innovative thinking, solve problems and promote new ideas that improve working practices, opportunities, and business relationships.

· Assisting the Directors with progressing tasks to ensure that strategic goals and objectives are achieved.

· Attending management and other meetings/workshops as required feeding back to the team and management.

· Proficiency with CRM systems.

· Aggregate sales or main contractor background.

· Basic understanding of waste acceptance.

· Basic understanding of geology.

· Basic understanding of WRAP protocols.

· Basic understanding of Geotechnical reports.

· Preferably degree educated in relevant field.

· Detailed planning and time-management skills

· Great organisational, communication and negotiation skills

· Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing landscapes.
