Full Job Description

Blackwater Medical Centre has an exciting opportunity for a salaried GP to join their busy, dedicated team to cover 4-8 sessions per week. You will become part of our experienced team in providing medical services to individuals in our local community.

The duties include:

  • conducting physical examinations of patients, creating treatment plans, raising appropriate clinical referrals, and giving general health advice.

  • complying with all legislation applicable to practising medicine.

  • conducting physical examinations, tests or procedures to diagnose patients.

  • maintaining accurate medical records for all patients

  • making recommendations for lifestyle changes to improve the patients' quality of life.

  • prescribing medication, treatment or therapy to patients

  • explaining test results and medical procedures to patients.

  • consulting with other Doctors about the specialised needs of some patients.

  • making appropriate clinical referrals.

  • completing paperwork and administrative duties.

  • actively participating in achieving QOF targets.

  • taking a share in on-call duties.

    Fully qualified GP with GMC registration

  • Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)

  • Be on the NHSE medical performers list


  • and skills, including:
  • Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management, and primary prevention and screening services;

  • Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your mandatory training is in date;

  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety;

  • Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a confidential manner.



  • We are situated in the Maldon area of Essex and currently have 5 GP partners, 4 practice nurses, two nurse prescribers, pharmacists, physiotherapist, healthcare assistant and a social prescriber. Our practice has in the region of 13,000 registered patients and our clinical system is SystmOne. We have low level of home visits and we have paramedics to help us with our visits and residential homes.
