What is the role?

The role provides an excellent and exciting opportunity for an individual to establish a career within the UK's largest independent IT and CE distributor.

To work within the retail division assisting the retail sales team in managing the existing customer base comprising of major retailers as directed. The role is office based but may include customer and manufacturer visits from time to time.

To proactively help manage nominated accounts and communicate with the relevant departments within Westcoast to ensure that we deliver the best possible customer proposition, thus ensuring customer retention and helping to deliver year on year sales growth whilst minimising operational costs.

If you join us, this is what your day to day will look like:

· Work proactively with the respective Retail Account Director and appropriate vendor and retailer personnel to optimise opportunities within the designated accounts

· Work alongside the Retail Account Director to develop reporting tools which will identify over / under-performing lines, highlight stock ordering requirement and which will track flow of inventory from the point where it is ordered with vendors to its final delivery to our retail customers

· Take responsibility for and manage in conjunction with relevant colleagues the efficient operation of all aspects of the respective retailer accounts:

· Identifying new opportunities

· Maximising the profitability of the account portfolio

· Monitoring and analysis of weekly stock and sales

· Product set up and maintenance

· Analysing retailer intake plans and forecast planning

· To manage the launch of new catalogues / ranges ensuring 100% product availability and the avoidance of any associated "late line" penalty fines

· Help manage efficiently and effectively the retailer's forecasting process and to ensure that all relevant colleagues are involved as necessary with regard to respective retailer intake plans

· Monitoring and control of all promotional activity

· Effective handling of retailer debit notes

· Understanding and help in the managing of the returns process

· Price file maintenance

· Help manage the product and promotion set up process in line with the relevant internal and retailer teams

· Coordination and communication with manufacturer personnel

· Regular review of retailer online / offline execution

· Management of dispatch planning (expected vs actual)

· Communicate with retailer personnel as required to understand and document relevant information that facilitates the on-going business development and enhancement of our relationships

· Proactively seek for new ways to improve the on-going trading relationship within the account portfolio

· Manage and co-ordinate the set-up of new products and promotions whilst ensuring the smooth transition month on month of ongoing established product ranges.

· Management of ad hoc activities relevant to the role as required.

To be successful in this role you will have some of the following skills and experience, and the desire to develop in other areas:

· Excellent communicator to all levels

· Self-motivated/ability to work unsupervised

· Organised

· Knowledge of supply chain processes within a retail environment

· PC/systems literate

· Experience of working within an FMCG business / industry is preferred. Ideally within the IT and consumer electronics channels

· Success in delivering results against clear objectives

· Target driven

· Team player

· Excellent attention to detail

· Ability to adapt to changing situations,

  • A-Level or equivalent (preferred)


  • Experience:
  • Retail sales: 1 year (preferred)

  • Supply chain: 1 year (preferred)
