Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to support Research & Development on a fixed term basis to support an exciting programme of transformation across the Joint Research Management Office (JRMO) between Queen Mary University of London and Barts Health NHS Trust.
The role holder will also be expected to support the management and oversight of the Trust's R&D project accounts, administration of the Trust's R&D budgets and management of financial systems.
In addition to a detailed knowledge of accounting processes and procedures, the role requires specialised knowledge of the NHS and/or research funding and strong people management skills. The post holder will manage a team of experienced financial administrators and will ensure that this team will provide a first-class quality service to its users and customers. The post-holder will work closely with the Director of Research and Development and will be an important point of contact for senior Barts Health and QMUL staff on Barts Health R&D Finance matters and will develop and maintain excellent working relationships and communications with them.
Proposed interview date :15th April 2024, As a senior member of the Joint Research Management Office management team, the role holder will provide input to the development and operational implementation of Trust and College strategies and policies pertaining to research.
The role holder will define and deliver an initial programme of transformation across R&D Finance, working closely with the Director of R&D and senior managers in the JRMO, Central Finance and with Hospital Finance Leads.
The role holder will ensure that the Section complies with the Trust's Standing Financial Regulations, Finance System Operational requirements and R&D policies pertaining to the management of research funds.
The role holder will develop processes for robust and transparent distribution of financial management information across various stakeholders.
The role holder will provide leadership to the R&D Finance Team, supporting career development and advising on structure and function.
