Full Job Description

If you are a Registered Children's, Adult Nurse or a Registered Midwife who wants to specialize in the care of sick preterm babies and their families then why not join us at our family friendly Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The William Harvey Hospital at Ashford in Kent. Our Unit provides care for babies and families from the local community and has 7 Intensive Care Cots, 5 High Dependency Cots and 12 Special Care cots. Our sister unit at the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate is our closest Level 1 unit providing Special Care and there are opportunities to work across both sites although this post is primarily based in the Intensive Care Unit., East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust has recently invested in Neonatal Staffing to enable us to move towards achieving BAPM standards of nurse: baby rations and ratios of Qualified in Speciality nurses. This has resulted in additional posts being available on both sites and the introduction of nursery nurses to the unit.
Our Practice Educator and Clinical Skills Facilitator will support you with a bespoke induction package (working alongside Preceptorship if appropriate). We have a designated Neonatal Clinical Technologist who assists the Practice Education team with training.
You will be supported in all areas of the unit with a plan to undertake the Neonatal Intensive Care Course within a year to provide you with the much sought after Specialist Qualification in Neonatal Nursing.
