Full Job Description

To ensure that all operational staff who drive vehicles in the course of their duties are trained and monitored in safe practices of driving, defensive driving and driving efficiently.

To ensure that all drivers are compliant with legislation relating to their roles and Company policy and procedures are followed at all times.

Carry out annual assessments of all drivers in the North London and Home Counties Support on any new driver assessments (Month 1 & 3) or assessment and refresher for drivers following an accident or unsafe act..

To develop a schedule of assessments, training plans and review current driving assessment arrangements.

Plan for any legislative changes or the introduction of new equipment and any new ways of working.

What you'll be doing;

  • Providing ongoing driver training and assessments throughout the year ensuring that the company is maintaining the highest possible standards

  • Ensuring that all drivers are compliant with legislation relating to their roles and Company policy and procedures are followed at all times.

  • Complete DCPC training record check on all drivers prior to assessment.

  • Monitor the accident and incident rates across the fleet and workforce analysing the main areas of concern and devising improvement plans with the Senior Contract Manager to reduce the rates.

  • To develop a schedule of assessments, training plans and review current driving assessment arrangements

  • Be responsible for your own and others Health and Safety whilst on site and assist in driving the Company's Health and Safety objectives and targets throughout your area of responsibility.

  • You will be required to provide driver assessments to other Veolia depots and provide feedback to Managers including action plans for drivers.

  • Provide management information and reports if /when requested by other Veolia departments and line management.

  • Training delivery: Provide professional training and guidance around driving duties, working time.

  • Administration: Support the local operations by adhering to associated paperwork.

  • Create and maintain a schedule of assessments to maximise periods of productivity by ensuring multiple assessments are carried out whilst in a specific locality.

  • Maintain a professional and customer focused attitude at all times.

  • Promote best practice across the region.

  • Support any programs that are released in the future.

    Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, training and coaching skills

  • Excellent technical experience, knowledge and qualifications preferably in the waste management sector

  • Vocational licence entitlement to HGV Class 2

  • Excellent leadership skills with a "Can Do Attitude"

  • Be self motivated with the ability to work to deadlines and work on your own initiative

  • Maintain a flexible and positive work ethic accepting the demands of the Business.


  • Desireble
  • Currently trained as a Driver Assessor

  • Transport Manager CPC.

  • Train the Trainer on vehicle and/ or plant

  • NEBOSH or IOSH certificate

  • Knowledgeable about road safety, driving laws and the Highway Code

  • Be able to demonstrate basic vehicle checks

  • Track record of progression in a supervisory/management role
