Full Job Description

The receptionist role is the first point of contact for our business for the majority of clients. The role will include answering all calls and emails coming into the business, taking restaurant bookings, hotel bookings and event enquiries., The scope of this role will be to:

  • Effectively communicate with all customers in the first instance of their Assembly House experience.

  • To understand all aspects of The Assembly House product in each area of the business.

  • To assist customers with their bookings and accurately record information

  • Deal with all incoming bookings quickly, professionally and effectively


  • Key Duties
  • Main duty /anchor point is answering of incoming phone calls and emails directed to The Assembly House events and bookings team

  • Assist bookings team with producing paperwork for event sheets (this may be menus, dietary cards, place names and signage and so on)

  • Collate menu pre orders, spreadsheets, kitchen call away sheets for floor team

  • Produce daily room information clipboards

  • Follow up any event leads within 48 hours

  • Take bookings for hotel rooms, restaurant and cookery school events and communicate this clearly with customers

  • General admin tasks as required by seniors

  • For future learning and possible scope to take admin of smaller events


  • General Communication
  • Liaise effectively with staff in all departments across The House

  • Communicate with seniors and House Manager on a daily basis

  • Communicate warmly, professionally, quickly and efficiently with guests.

  • Communication with housekeeping team on daily booking notes

  • Respond appropriately and relay information to Managers

  • Communicate professionally at all times with colleagues and customers

    Strong written and spoken communication skills are a must as is a friendly, confident and professional personality! Good computer skills and IT literacy is essential., This person is a highly self-motivated individual. This person is organised, produces plans and lists in order to effectively manage their time and to balance multitasking. This person has a very friendly attitude both in person and in written and verbal communication. Good computer skills and IT literacy is essential. This person has a positive outlook which is applied in order to achieve goals. This persons must be willing to help others to help the wider business as a whole.

    We are looking for a receptionist and admin assistant to join our team! Core hours will be 4-5 shifts per week of 8 hours. This will include at least 1 weekend day per week. Typical shifts will be 9am to 5pm.
