You may also communicate with industry, government and other stakeholders, for example to help the project team to gain permissions for the deployment of bird tracking technology offshore, or working with tracking device manufacturers to ensure we have appropriate equipment in place.

  • Can understand and manage complex and logistically challenging scientific projects and produce clear written communications about them.

  • Experience of leading and managing multidisciplinary teams, including the ability to lead without line-management authority.

  • Experience of delivering a number of projects, ideally with demonstrable experience of working in partnerships to achieve shared outcomes

  • Excellent interpersonal / communication skills, ideally with experience of working with external stakeholders such as agencies and contractors.

  • Competent IT user e.g. MS packages, Outlook, etc.

  • The postholder will need to use the RSPB's new project management system, Cora, but training will be provided.

  • Budget management

  • Identify, record, manage and communicate risks and issues

  • Can put in place appropriate contingency actions
