Full Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join the growing Mechanical department within this long-established and highly respected contractor.

Reporting to the Operations Manager and Director the main purpose of this position consists of;

· Responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of multiple projects in line with the client specifications, budget, and company standards.

· Liaise with supply chain to improve costs & develop project collaboratively.

· Management of staff/specialists working on projects

Ensure adherence to company policies & procedures including all health and safety standards and feedback issues to Senior Management Team (SMT).

Key Responsibilities include;

· Overall responsibility for overseeing and co-ordinating the controlled delivery of projects to targeted completion in terms of commerciality, timeframe, safe working environment and within client quality and cost expectations.

· Responsible for compliance with company procedures, managing valuations, final account projections met, management of handover of final project.

· Collaborate with consultants & the Design Team, etc. to determine the specifications of the project and deliver accordingly.

· Overall responsibility for managing and maintaining project delivery documentation and processes by evaluating progress and prepare detailed reports as required.

· Works closely with other Project Managers to work to the construction programme ensuring that all tasks, are completed within the timeframes.

· Monitor and identify any slippages and risks following the escalation process as identified in the contract.

· Supports the Commercial team in pre-tender interviews and establishing key client relationships.

· Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations.

· Attends all key operational and commercial project meetings including H&S/Quality where necessary.

· Ensures that agreed instructions are implemented and updates project staff accordingly.

· Supervise the work of employees and subcontractors/ specialists etc. and give them guidance when needed.

· Acts as the point of escalation for site staff on projects.

· In harmony with HR, monitor sickness absence and general attendance, overall attitude, and behaviour of staff. Support HR with first stage investigation under Company Policy and procedures (Sickness, disciplinary and Conduct, etc)

This list is not exhaustive and may be varied from time to time, you will be expected to undertake other duties as appropriate and as requested by your line manager or a director.

· SSSTS

· CSCS, CITB

· Current Gas qualification

· Previous experience of tendering and project delivery/ management

· Able to work flexibly and deliver to deadlines with attention to detail.

· An understanding and working knowledge of working with third party Specialists & Suppliers

· Good knowledge of regulations relating to construction and appropriate legal guidelines

· An excellent understanding of construction methods and materials

· The ability to manage finances.

· A high level of IT competency, including good knowledge of MS Office and construction/project management software.

· A creative approach to problem solving with an organised and methodical approach to tasks.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including ability to actively listen, shows empathy.

· Excellent negotiation abilities

· Remains calm when faced with deadlines.

· Excellent time-management skills with the ability to prioritise.

· Remains calm when faced with challenging issues,

· A team player with leadership abilities, including interacting well with others.

· Confident attitude and ability to delegate and persuade/ influence others.

· Familiarity with company policy & procedures and health & safety requirements.

Qualifications and Skills Desirable;

· Proven experience as a project manager

· In-depth understanding of construction procedures, material and project management principles

· Previous experience of managing, supervising, and motivating a team

· BSc/BA in engineering, building science or relevant field.

· Project Management Certificate e.g. PRINCE2 or similar

· Member of MAPM, MCIOB

· NEBOSH/ IOSH
