Full Job Description

This role is responsible for the provision of comprehensive administrative support to the undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes & shared programmes, supporting colleagues and students on their journey from recruitment through to graduation. You will provide administrative support for our undergraduate courses within the School of Engineering, and support administration as required for our joint undergraduate, DA and PGT programmes.

As well as being the initial point of contact for student administration and undertaking routine tasks, you will contribute and assist with Welcome Weeks, enrolment, graduation, award ceremonies and other student events. You will also be required to support the production of student communication and publicity.

To support the School at student events there is a requirement for occasional weekend working. Given the nature of this role, there is an expectation that the post-holder will work a minimum of 80% of their time based in the office.

We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.

You'll have experience of working in an administrative role within Higher Education and understand the priorities of the environment, students and Academics. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to provide accurate advice and guidance on administrative processes or policies. You will have experience of dealing with senior members of staff and are trustworthy and discreet when dealing with confidential or sensitive matters.

You must be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver a varied workload to tight deadlines whilst paying meticulous attention to detail, clarity and accuracy of your work. You are able to work independently and are resourceful, self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work on your own initiative to find solutions to problems.

You have developed strong IT skills and use this to manipulate and present data and keep accurate records.

The School of Engineering is one of the leading unified engineering schools in the UK and is currently ranked one of the top 10 engineering schools in all the major UK league tables.

We offer competitive salaries on a grading structure that provides annual incremental progression, plus a generous annual leave entitlement (26 days per annum for this role, plus four customary shut down days over Christmas, and eight statutory bank holidays). As well as competitive salaries we offer attractive pension schemes with excellent employer contributions, and various staff recognition awards. We are also committed to helping you to fulfil your potential through a range of career development opportunities.

This role is based in our Student Office team within the School of Engineering on the University's campus in Coventry. We currently operate a hybrid-working policy. Given the nature of this role, there is an expectation that the postholder will work a minimum of 60% of their time based in the office.

The School of Engineering is committed to the principles of the Athena SWAN Charter, which recognises work undertaken to address gender equality, representation and progression for all staff working in an academic environment. The School currently holds the Athena SWAN Silver award and the University holds an Institutional Silver award.
