Production Shift Supervisor

Purpose of the Job: To provide support to the Operations Manager in the smooth running of all production and machining activities whilst ensuring quality standards are met., · Compliance with all relevant Health and Safety and Legislative requirements

· Manage the production team to ensure that the production plan is adhered to and that targets are met

· Serve as a contact between the production team and the operations manager ensuring effective communication and coordination

· Ensuring holidays are balanced, that skills are covered during any absenteeism, highlight skills gaps and ensure development is considered.

· Ensure that breaks are taken at appropriate times, personal breaks are minimised, and practices that reduce efficiency (use of mobile phones, excessive chatting, etc) are removed.

· With training and support, undertake return to work, and development appraisals as they become available.

· Ensure close liaison with the support teams, (Quality, Production Control & Engineering) in order that problem areas can be identified as soon as possible with a view to corrective and preventive action being carried out.

· Ensuring quality workmanship in line with best practice & identify areas where improvements can be made.

· Ensuring first off inspections are undertaken by the operators together and when appropriate, with another person and suitably recorded on the Production Route card and Process Control Record - Critical Checks;

· Assistance in the inspection of products whilst in manufacture;

· Dispute resolution of staff when required.

Essential:

· Minimum 5 years' experience in multi-axis machining of complex components for Aerospace or similar Industries.

· Capability to lead in a supervisory role, desire to develop their skills beyond to management level

· Ability to work to deadline targets

· Able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure

· Leadership experience and excellent communication skills

· Good accuracy and attention to detail

· Fully appreciate machine types and their capabilities.
