Procurement at Jisc:
The Procurement function is responsible for all Jisc purchases over 25K. Our aims are to ensure all purchases deliver value for money, are of the correct quality and standard and comply with all UK procurement legislation under the Public Contract Regulations 2015 (PCRs) and the forthcoming Procurement Act 2023. Our vision is to provide business focused procurement and supplier management services for Jisc and its customers using innovative thinking, streamlined processes, with exceptional customer service.

We are passionate to deliver our mission to support Jisc and its customers by maximising value for money, managing high performing supplier base and supporting Jisc and its customers to navigate procurement legislation to deliver excellent outcomes for the sector.,

  • Actively support any procurement processes carried out across Jisc by more senior members of the procurement function

  • Support Procurement colleagues in developing their category pipelines and strategies Take the lead on some lower value / risk procurement processes across Jisc.

  • Check and approve purchase requisitions at the appropriate value in our finance system.

  • Support in the development of training materials and delivery of any training to Jisc staff.

  • Be aware of any developments in procurement legislation and good practice to advise Jisc staff on changes.

    We are looking for someone with previous experience of working in a procurement / purchasing role or those who have transferable skills from other 'support services or 'compliance' backgrounds, ideally within the public sector to take responsibility for administration and support of procurements undertaken by all directorates across Jisc.


  • You will support the Procurement category leads in delivering their category strategies and involve leading on some lower value procurements. You will need to effectively manage time and follow processes, have strong time management/prioritisation skills, and have supportive qualities which enable you to be a strong team player.

    You will need to be personable, have excellent communication skills and the ability to confidently develop and manage good working relationships across Jisc, in order to educate stakeholders on procurement processes along with a sound knowledge of procurement process, procedures and the ability to track and advise on changes to relevant legislation.,
  • Experience of negotiating contracts.

  • Practical experience of using eProcurement systems would be an advantage.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills (especially when dealing with internal business groups, senior management, research/education institutions, purchasing consortia and existing/potential suppliers).

  • Good planning and time management skills.

  • Customer focused.

    Salary: From £30,000 per annum negotiable depending on experience
    Contract: Permanent - max 35 hours per week, however we are open to a range of working arrangements including part time and compressed hours
    Location: Hybrid - flexibility to work from home and at any of our main hubs (London, Bristol, Manchester and Milton Park - Oxfordshire),
