HSBC Technology is based within the DBS function which provides essential support for the bank through Technology, Operations, key central business services and our worldwide network of Chief Operating Officers. Technology work closely with our global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely.

The Chief Technology Office (CTO) manages IT infrastructure, within HSBC Technology, critical for HSBC employees and customers such as computer platforms, storage, database, data centres, voice, video and data networks, infrastructure security, cloud hosted infrastructure, contact centres and end user services such as collaboration and workspace technologies.

The CTO Architecture function provides Enterprise Architecture, Platform Architecture and Solutions Architecture services across all technology groups in the CTO department. The primary activities are to drive and develop the technical strategy & roadmap, standards, communicate them, train the IT staff in these standards, implement the architecture and controls, and govern the standards.

A key role in the CTO Architecture department is the Principal Enterprise Architect for Colleague & Collaboration.

Job Requirements:

  • Develop and maintain the technical strategy and standards across all the technologies in Colleague & Collaboration such as:

  • + Collaboration: Real Time Communications including M365 and Office on premises, Zoom, Call Centre Technologies, Cisco Telephony, Self Service and Support.
    + Workspace: including End User Computing, systems management and Virtualisation, as well as global Application Delivery and Endpoint Management
  • Ensure the Colleague & Collaboration platform architecture is consistent with the architectures for Cloud, Connectivity, Data Centre Services, DevOps and Application, Enterprise Infrastructure, Resilience, Service Management, and Security.

  • Understand the application architectures and strategies, ensure the colleague & Collaboration platform architecture supports and enables them.

  • Identify new services as required based on business requirements or new technology capability.

  • Establish and maintain a set of common deployment architectures in the services catalogue, to assist projects in selecting the most appropriate design patterns to meet the non-functional requirements for their solution.

  • Ensure governance & communication of technology architecture in Colleague & Collaboration, manage & review submissions to the Technical Domains Design Authority (TDDA).

  • Measure adoption of the Colleague & Collaboration architecture and standards.

  • Represent Colleague & Collaboration in architectural discussions eg across CTO & application development

  • Select appropriate tooling to support key activities.

  • Manage the team of Technical (typically Platform) Architects in Colleague & Collaboration, + Workspace Application delivery, Asset Inventory and associated MI (e.g. Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Configuration Manager, Proton etc).

  • + Automation & Customer Interaction (e.g. Service Now, Flexera Admin Studio etc)
    + Cloud PaaS (predominantly Google, AWS, Azure and AliCloud)
    + Cloud IaaS (predominantly Google, AWS, Azure and AliCloud)

    This role is based in London / Hybrid.

    Qualification and Skills

  • Experience as an architecture practitioner in a large-scale organisation

  • A sound knowledge of architecture frameworks and service management frameworks (e.g. ITIL) and key processes (e.g. change, incident, problem management)

  • A good understanding of enterprise security practices, authentication, and identity management and how they apply to securing a corporate on premise and Cloud hosted infrastructure.

  • Have a system engineering background and the ability to compare and contrast different solutions to meet a business requirement.

  • Provide technical thought leadership in evaluation of new technologies to meet business requirements and influence key stakeholders leading to adoption.

  • Have in-depth conceptual functional and non-functional knowledge of Technologies in the following areas:

  • + Business Productivity and Collaboration Suites (e.g. Microsoft Office 365, Teams etc)
    + Email & Search (e.g. Microsoft Outlook etc)
    + Real Time Communications covering Digital Signage, Enterprise Mobility, Instant Messaging, Media recording, Meeting rooms, Trading floor, Unified Communications, and Video (e.g. Cisco, Jabber, Sametime, Verint, Logitech, BT, Webex etc)
    + Self Service Devices, Management & Operating System (e.g. Windows, McAfee etc)
