Full Job Description

The post holder will join the Children's Care Group and support the Learning Disability Pathway across Rotherham and Doncaster CAMHS and will have support and access to a well-established psychology structure across the directorate.

The service provides person centred support to people with learning disabilities across the full spectrum and who may also experience comorbid mental health difficulties, distress behaviour and/ or autism. The service offers a full multidisciplinary approach and this post will be integral to the team; consisting of psychiatry, senior community nurses, occupational therapy and more. The post holder will work across a number of settings and with a range of complexities

The Psychologist will make a significant impact on the ability and capacity of the team to deliver improved care and treatment outcomes for people with a learning disability, through assessing the development needs of team members, providing training, supervision and consultation in psychological skills and risk management. They will be a key part of building resilience in the team through psychological understanding and compassion.,

  • Accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of highly specialist psychological careto clients with highly complex and contentious mental health conditions or learning disabilitieswhich include challenging behaviours and possible risk of physical aggression.

  • To be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.

  • To provide clinical supervision and training to less experienced colleagues within thedesignated psychology service and to other members of the multidisciplinary team.

  • To undertake formal research as a major part of the job and act as field supervisor todoctorate trainees.

  • To be proactive in continual service improvement within own area.

  • To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities.

  • To promote at all times a positive image of the service and the wider Trust.
