Full Job Description

The PRC Manager II - Regulatory Planner and Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring BAT compliance with relevant laws, regulations and standards. The role navigates complex legal landscapes, minimise legal risks and support the business smooth operation. This is a 6 months fixed term contract role.

What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?

The role is responsible for coordinating compliance activities and ensuring delivery against BAT pipelines for consumables (Vapour, MO, THP, BHP). Assure product regulatory compliance in subject areas such as regulatory classification, SDS authoring, product registrations/reporting and product assessments. Ensures that product regulatory compliance is met and driven for BAT's sustainable product competitive advantage. Supports as required with regulatory reporting requirements for BAT's portfolio.

Number of Direct Reports,

  • Coordinate efforts associated with the preparation of regulatory documents or submissions.

  • Liaise with internal and external partners to gather, analyse, and communicate information regarding regulatory requirements and changes.

  • Responsible for the management and operational aspects of PRC Assessments and Reporting to ensure products comply with BAT Product Standards, Duty of Care and regulatory requirements.

  • Drive the continual improvement of legal assessments and regulatory reporting for current markets.

  • Embed the process of legal requirements for new market entrants, partnering with the Compliance Insights team in Product Regulatory Compliance.

  • Effectively manage a highly dynamic team in a challenging work environment, balancing competing priorities and providing leadership in a key area of the business.

  • Effectively partnering with collaborators and a key representative in technical discussions, ensuring project priorities are in line with the strategic priorities of the business.

  • Facilitate and support responses to regulatory questions, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure compliance.

  • Ensure the confidentiality of all supplier information is maintained to ensure their trust, support and co-operation.


  • Management
  • Application of formal project management, planning long term work streams, in line with PLM and business innovation pipeline

  • Inspire and provide guidance to the team to assist them in performance improvement and accomplishment of business objectives.

  • Provide the most effective product compliance solutions in terms of cost, quality and performance for compliance activities.

  • Budget - budget responsibility. Adheres to all financial processes and controls.

  • Measure success and drive continuous improvement through the application of Key Performance Indicators.

  • Provides coaching and problem-solving support to individuals, performing reporting activities and checks their work where necessary.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of regulatory strategies to facilitate commercial launch of products.


  • Relationship
  • Initiator and lead representative in interactions with Product Compliance Managers, NPI, Technical leads, Marketing, Toxicology & R&D communities.

  • Provide technical training and coaching.

  • Develop and maintain effective working cross-functional relationships with partners.

  • Build strong relationships with Product Development, Deploy and NPI Teams, permanently driving for continuous improvement.

  • Engage with IT teams and other internal partners to map Product Compliance processes and test IT solutions.

  • Identify new opportunities for process improvement and improved communication with partners to drive efficiency, delivery and visibility of work.

  • Creative thinking to support Product Compliance processes.

  • Identify and suggest changes to operating and partner management procedures for subsequent approval.

  • Interprets output of technical work and makes recommendations.

  • Defines improved ways of tracking and communicating Product Compliance Reporting plan activities.

  • What experience do you have in tobacco and nicotine product compliance? Do you have experience in handling challenges that may arise when trying to balance product compliance requirements with business objectives?

  • What strategies to you employ to assess and mitigate product regulatory compliance risks in an organization with diverse operations?

    Strong experience in a product compliance/ regulatory affairs environment

  • Core understanding of tobacco and nicotine product categories (both conventional and new categories).

  • Strong understanding of relevant laws, regulations and industry standards pertaining to tobacco heated products, modern oral nicotine pouches and vapour consumables.

  • Familiarity with product development processes and internal systems.

  • Detailed knowledge of consumables design thorough understanding and awareness of ingredients and materials used in the products and their technological functions.

  • Seasoned project management experience with the ability to manage own workload priorities and take initiatives.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially the ability to explain regulatory compliance matters to non-experts.

  • Proactive; dedicated with strong interpersonal, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.


  • Education
  • Educated to BSc (or equivalent) in a related subject preferably in a technical/product compliance/ regulatory affairs/legal field.


  • BENEFICIAL
  • Strong technical knowledge of vaping, MO and Heated Products

  • Solid understanding and use of internal PRC systems (e.g. SAP, 3DX, PCMT, GESI, Vapour toolbox).

  • Product regulatory classifications knowledge for BAT consumables and product compliance rules pertaining to these products.
