Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to fill our Practice Supervisor OT post (37 hours per week). This post is based within the Paediatric Occupational Therapy Service which is a 'countywide' service for Derbyshire., The Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team (POTs) comprises of one Team Manager, a Practice Supervisor, ten Paediatric Occupational Therapists who are a mixture of grade 9 (newly qualified) and grade 11 (experienced OT), plus two Community Care Workers who support the service. The OT Service sits within the larger provision of The Children with Disabilities Service and works closely with colleagues in the six children's social work teams made up of Social Workers, Community Care Workers, Practice Supervisors & Team Managers, along with the Head of Service.
We are a dynamic, forward-thinking service that has the interest and aspirations of children and young people at its heart. The team are involved in providing advice and information to parents and young people along with the provision of equipment Moving & Handling assessments and both major and minor adaptations within the home environment.
The service works in a robust partnership with other departments and organisations to ensure the holistic approach is taken to the assessment of children and young people across Derbyshire.

The Job Role
The role would be to support the Team Manager to plan and organise the Paediatric Occupational Therapy service across Derbyshire. Maintaining high quality professional practice and having oversight of team performance to provide the best outcomes for disabled children across Derbyshire.
The Practice Supervisor will influence change and support the service to continue to develop and modernise practice in line with professional standards
Main duties of the job
+ Hold a small complex and varied case load from across the county.
+ Supporting OT staff to use a strengths-based approach and ensure clinical effectiveness through the use of evidence-based interventions.
+ To promote the departmental policies and guidance ensuring the voices of the child, young person and family is heard.
+ To support Team Manager with reviewing and updating departmental policies/procedures and practice guidance on a regular basis.
+ Supporting staff with professional interventions that may include advice and information, provision of suitable equipment and provide guidance, recommendations and support to progress home adaptations.
+ Quality Assuring casework to ensure professional standards are met.
+ Working with the Team Manager to audit key performance indicators are being reached.
+ Mentor/Supervise and support Occupational Therapy Community Care Workers
+ Mentor/Clinically supervise all Occupational Therapists including newly qualified staff as required.
+ Support the provision of student placements.
+ Participate in clinical audits and clinical research as appropriate
