The POCT team can announce the fantastic opportunity to be part of a new team to manage and direct the Rapid CoVid/Respiratory Testing services across the Berkshire Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS) networked hospital sites now included Surrey and Sussex Hospitals- based at East Surrey Hospital, Reigate. The current service was set up during the CoVid pandemic, we are now moving to have a dedicated team to work diligently to provide rapid respiratory virus test results.
This post is focused on the new site at East Surrey Hospital and other Surrey sites.
BSPS, provide a comprehensive laboratory service to Frimley Health sites, the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, Ashford and St Peters in Chertsey, Royal Berkshire hospital in Reading and now Surrey and Sussex, East Surrey Hospital, the POCT rapid testing service is part of this network.
The ability to travel independently between sites and work flexibly is essential. There will be a need to be able to move from site to site within the working day/shift.
The successful candidate will be required to work at all BSPS locations if required, but primarily at East Surrey and Royal Surrey hospitals., The successful applicant will be expected to supervise day to day activities of and work in the Rapid Respiratory Testing Team. Rapid Testing team. They will need to understand the need for quality control measures, participate in audit work, risk assessments and incident logging of errors. Duties include supervision of all quality requirements in line with UKAS requirements.
Will maintain all necessary record keeping and ensure training and competencies are completed and kept up to date.
Will work with Managers to ensure the quality and robustness of the current service.
Will assist with reporting into the Senior Management of the POCT SRRS team.
Will cover out of hours services reporting into the Senior BMS in the team.
Will carry out any necessary procedure to comply with the individual Trusts' POCT Policy., We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and confident individual to work as part of the Samba Rapid Respiratory Testing / Point of Care Testing Team, providing a comprehensive supporting role to all our SRRS staff across all sites.
The Point of Care Team co-ordinates the appraisal, introduction, and use of analytical devices in wards, clinics, and departments within the hospital trusts and in the community, allowing quality pathology results to be produced nearer the patient. The equipment overseen by POCT provides results that cover blood gas analysis, full blood count, blood glucose and ketones, and urinalysis.
In the last year the POCT services have expanded the scope to include Rapid Covid and respiratory virus testing, working with Emergency departments to achieve safe admissions pathways, community projects targeting Healthcare inequalities and Labkit Hospital@Home projects that support early inpatient discharge and admissions avoidance.
