Play Therapist

To support an established counselling team, whilst maintaining a strong clinical focus and counselling case load. This is primarily a clinical role delivering direct face-to-face therapeutic work with children aged 5 to 10 years old.

Alongside the delivery of face-to-face therapeutic work to YCT's clients, the role will assist with safeguarding, client well-being and impact measurement practices. The role will provide support and expertise to the therapeutic team as they deliver services to both schools and community-based clients. All work is delivered within the BACP ethical framework, to meet the needs of the organisation's varied beneficiaries.

To work with children suffering from a range of psychological difficulties and complex life experiences - including for example depression, anxiety, ADHD, experiences of abuse, grief, family breakdown, domestic violence, and trauma.

To help children to gain insight and understanding of their experiences, increasing emotional resilience and develop coping strategies while decreasing problematic behaviours and internalised conflicts. To work closely with the children's parents/carers throughout the Therapy intervention and occasionally undertake parent-child relationship interventions.

  · Psychotherapy/Counselling/Play Therapy Qualification, together with experience of providing psychological interventions with children.


· Registered member of the BACP/BAPT (or equivalent)

· A minimum of 3 years' experience working therapeutically with children,
• Diploma of Higher Education (preferred), Working therapeutically with children: 3 years (required)
