Full Job Description

Job summary: Assist the Playwork Leader with delivering, fun and engaging activities for the children. Provide quality play and care within the framework of the school's policies and procedures, ensuring safeguarding is adhered to at all times.

Line manager: Holiday Club Play Leader/ SLT.

Responsible for:

  • Ensuring the children are happy, engaged and safe.

  • Working relationships:Children attending the Holiday Club and their parents/carers;

  • Management and staff, including students and volunteers;

  • Local Authority representatives, Ofsted.


  • Main duties include:
  • To assist the Holiday Club Leader with preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.

  • To work as part of the team, initiate and lead programmed activities, alongside additional free-play opportunities including sports, arts and crafts, games and creative play.

  • To contribute to the organisation and delivery of activities, ensuring they are adapted where appropriate to be accessible to all children to the best of their abilities.

  • To work as part of a team of playworkers to ensure that the service provided is high quality and appropriate for the children.

  • Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.

  • Administering first aid when necessary.

  • Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents, and childcare and play related agencies.

  • Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.

  • To supervise the play environment to ensure physical and emotional/personal safety for all children/young people attending. This includes keeping records of any accidents or injuries that may occur and any medication administered (upon parents written consent).

  • To ensure that all children/young people on their arrival are welcomed and feel comfortable and valued enabling the development and improvement of self-esteem, self-confidence and positive experiences.

  • Working within the framework of the school's policies and procedures.
