Full Job Description

Apprentices will be working in all aspects of Plastering. Some examples are:

Identify and prepare surfaces for plastering. Determine quantities and ratios of materials. Move, handle and store materials.

Construct metal framed partitions, wall linings and openings in preparation for boarding. Mechanically install plasterboard to timber and lightweight metal framing. Direct bond plasterboard to masonry. Use hand applied and machine applied tape and jointing systems.

Apply solid plastering systems using one and two coat plastering to internal surfaces.

Apply traditional, modern and machine applied render systems including colour rendering; run in situ moulding work in sand and cement.

Although this is a Plastering apprentice role, there may at times be some other aspects of construction involved in, which they shall be supervised and trained. When the apprentices are working, they will be supervised by a fully qualified member of staff and will be shown all the correct procedures including health and safety in the workplace. Along with ensuring that their work area is clean and safe, and that all the tools are cleaned and put away correctly at the end of each day., The successful candidates will be enrolled onto a 24-month Plastering apprenticeship with Greenlight Safety & Training. You will attend college 3 consecutive days a month at our centre in Plympton, Plymouth. You will learn your craft with experienced Plastering tradesman and work your way to building a successful career in construction.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There are many different career progression routes within construction, such as becoming a site supervisor or manager. Directly after your apprenticeship, you could be offered any of the following career progression routes:

Self - employed Plasterer

Level 2 Drylining Apprenticeship

Level 2 Property Maintenance Apprenticeship (general builder/all trades Apprenticeship)

Working Week and Pay

Apprentices will be expected to work a minimum of 30 hours a week and a maximum of 40 hours a week with exception for college.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to undertake a trade apprenticeship in Plastering and ultimately gain an apprenticeship in the trade. The prospective candidate needs to be enthusiastic, punctual, able to take instructions, and reliable. They must be able to cope with the physical side of the role enough to engage in manual labour. They need to have both communication and organisation skills whilst being able to work as part of a team or on their own.

Your own transport is not essential for this role.
