Full Job Description

Main Duties: Patients Providing screening and health education advice under the supervision of a registered healthcare professional. Working collaboratively within the team to meet the needs of the patients following agreed policy and procedures, standards and guidelines Undertake the collection, storage and dispatch of pathological specimens Perform investigatory procedures requested by the GPs Clinical Skills Undertake, record and follow guidelines for the tasks for which you have received appropriate training Urinalysis Blood Pressure Pulse rate and rhythm Temperature Height and weight Smoking and alcohol status Venepuncture Chaperone Practice Stock checking and ordering Maintaining fridge logs Cleaning of clinical areas Business Promote the services of Peel GPs in a professional manner An awareness of forthcoming changes within the NHS and General Practice Communication and Data Daily use of the clinical software system EMIS Recording of accurate data both written and computerized
Assist with QoF (Quality and Outcome Framework) Participate in Practice learning sessions Attendance at meetings e.g. staff, I.T team and patient participation group Work as a team member Maintain a record of own personal/professional development Promote and represent Peel GPs at meetings/visits in a professional manner Information Governance Patients entrust us with and allow us to gather sensitive information in relation to their health and social well being. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their confidentiality and act appropriately.

In the performance of the duties and responsibilities outlined in this job description, the post-holder will have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers/family members, Practice staff, other healthcare workers, the NHS and Peel GPs. The post-holder will have access, either written or verbal, to business sensitive information. All information is to be regarded as strictly confidential. Information may only be divulged to authorized persons in accordance with Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality, NHS Code of Practice and the Data Protection Act or any other statute General Housekeeping Attend and comply with Health & Safety training and regulations Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks Effective use of training to update knowledge and skills The use of infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy, safe and hazard free area
Handling of specimens Handling and disposal of waste materials Cleaning of equipment to agreed standard Maintain cold chain To report potential risks identified to the Business Practice Manager Maintaining an accurate control of medical stock in main storerooms and clinical rooms which also includes checking expiry dates Attend any other training/updates as required for your post Participate in annual appraisal or reviews Attendance at training sessions e.g.

in-house and/or external Valid membership of professional bodies where required Attend and comply with Health & Safety training and regulations To work according to Practice policies and procedures and within the scope of your skills and training and Peel GPs standard of delivery services. With consultation/tuition/supervision your refusal in taking responsibility for these duties could be deemed unreasonable. Staff are required to undertake appropriate training as requested.
