Full Job Description

The East Midlands Police Legal Services (EMPLS) department at Derbyshire Constabulary are looking to recruit a Paralegal (Litigation) on a full time permanent basis to help provide effective and efficient claims handling and general legal support.

What you'll be doing
-Managing a caseload of claims made against the Police and Crime Commissioners and Chief Constables of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire, and the Chief Fire Officer of Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service and their officers and staff.
-Providing support to the members of the litigation team in connection with the management of claims.
-Maintaining accurate and timely records in accordance with the requirements of EMPLS.

The must haves
-Experience of handling legal claims on behalf of clients, including collating relevant information, applying the law, advising on outcomes, responding to claimants and negotiation of settlements as appropriate.
-Previous experience of maintaining accurate records and filing systems.
-Experience of researching and obtaining relevant information from paper and electronic systems.

Salary- £24,462 - £29,874
For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
