Full Job Description

The position is for a Paralegal, reporting to the Head of Legal based in Alderley Edge, Cheshire (with some flexibility to work hybrid from home). The legal team is responsible for ensuring the integrity of and maximising the potential of, commercial contracts for the supply of a variety of services and solutions, both by and to the company and its group. The core functions of the department are bid review and management, drafting and negotiating contracts (with customers and suppliers, including reseller, licensing, SaaS, and cloud services agreements), governance and compliance, supplier and third party agreements, risk assessment, mitigation and management, post-signature contract and dispute management, commercial education, training and awareness.

The role includes:

  • Reviewing and negotiating simple commercial agreements, including NDAs, teaming agreements, and variation agreements

  • Working with the sales team and account managers to draft and negotiate customer and supplier contracts

  • Supporting the legal team in responding to bids and reporting on legal and commercial risk;

  • Advising and undertaking risk analysis in respect of existing contracts and new contract opportunities;

  • Assisting with document management process;

  • Assisting with the review and updating of template documentation, including provision of training across the various business units;

  • Dealing with day to day enquiries from the business;

  • Assisting with disputes and litigation;

  • Engaging with the sales/project management teams to ensure compliance with business processes and procedures

  • Legal administration tasks associated with bid and contract management, including document comparisons, organisation and oversight of filing

    Ideally have some experience as a paralegal, although candidates able to demonstrate strong commercial awareness and excellent communication skills will be considered for this role;

  • Exhibit strong organisational skills;

  • Demonstrate a high regard for quality & standards ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely manner

  • Have some understanding of basic contracts - experience/knowledge of contracts relating to IT or IP licensing would be ideal but not essential, provided the candidate can demonstrate a willingness to learn;

  • A strong interest in the public sector

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and people skills, as well as personal drive;

  • Have strong attention to detail

  • Have a proven track record of successfully working within a team;

  • Have experience of working within a changing environment and assisting with the need to make changes happen;

  • Have general IT office skills (including use of Office 365/Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook)

  • Be articulate and confident adaptability and flexibility are also key soft skills for this role.
