Full Job Description

A vacancy has arisen for a part-time personal assistant/secretary/admin assistant to replace the current incumbent who will be retiring later this year after 25 years with the company. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will start in late June/early July (though there is flexibility) and that there will be a 3 to 4-month handover period.

This is an important, diverse and interactive position that entails a varied and interesting range of duties including day-to-day running of the office, preparation of e-mails and reports, liaison with EIA's associates and clients, and arranging national and international travel for the Managing Director. Discretion is an important part of the job as much of the material we deal with is commercially and/or financially sensitive, and subject to confidentiality requirements. In spite of what we do and who we do it for, we seek to engender a friendly team spirit in all that we do. The people and organisations we work with have worked with us for many years.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have significant experience in a similar role. The candidate should possess excellent inter-personal skills, have excellent typing skills in terms of speed and accuracy, a good command of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, good organisational skills and an eye for detail. Although formal qualifications are not a requirement of the position, possession of them would be an advantage.

EIA Ltd are a small well-established Plymouth-based civil engineering consultancy founded in 2000, specialising in contract/dispute management, contract administration and contract advisory services in the international construction industry. Our client base includes international financing institutions and organisations such as United Nations Office for Project Services, the European Union, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Caribbean Development Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank and Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau (of Germany), as well as international consultants and contractors.

We can offer minimum guaranteed 18hrs/week (for example 3 days of 6 hours) and additional hours for holiday cover and during particularly busy periods, on a self-employed basis at a rate of £12 - £15 per hour, depending upon experience. Our office is in Plympton and free car parking is available at the office.
