Full Job Description

We are looking for dedicated, reliable, confident people to join our Support Team on a part-time basis, 4 days per week (Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri) 8.30am-4.00pm. The successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of teaching support and pupil care within Flexi-School Dyslexia (FSD). The applicant will be trained in paediatric First Aid (provided if not already achieved) and will use their skills should an incident arise. The applicant will supervise break and lunch times, providing & supervising pupil activities when required and adhering to policies for keeping sanitisation to high standards. They will help teaching staff when required with tasks such as photocopying & laminating in order to keep lessons running smoothly, as well as pitching in when required, which could lead to progression into a Teaching role, if suitable. Support Staff will be required to contribute to and maintain pupil progress via photographs, videos and short captions via an online communication resource
for parents & teachers of mainstream schools during each working day. This will be to show how pupils are enjoying their time at FSD and how they are working in lessons. Training will be provided for use of IT and how to post pictures & videos and write comments appropriately. Finally the applicant will be expected to assist with moving equipment and furniture as & when required for pupil and company requirements & for keeping the kitchen area clean & tidy.

The applicant should have some knowledge/understanding of neurodiversity & how to deal with the challenges this may present a young person, either from personal or professional experience. The successful candidate will be employed on a permanent contract on a part-time basis - 4 days per week, 8:30am-4pm term time only, so the role would suit somebody trying to fit around school hours, or a young person hoping to get some experience working with young people. Successful applicants will start on minimum wage, which may be topped up by FSD when the employee has undergone a period of Training and achieved the specific milestone for pay increments. It is anticipated that employees wages will continue to rise in accordance with performance.

The position will be starting in the new academic year, with a handover period in Term 6, commencing in July 2024.

Pay: £8.60-£15.50 per hour
